Krista Parkinson specializes in helping launch the most valuable startups in the world: Young careers.
In the fall of 2015, she founded MyGradsGetJobs, a personalized career-coaching company that empowers college students and recent graduates to target and land their first internships and jobs in the entertainment industry. To date, Krista has successfully launched hundreds of young careers working as assistants to talent agents, production assistants, interns, and other positions at prestigious entertainment companies in both LA and NYC.
Krista began her career in Hollywood as an assistant to a talent agent at the iconic William Morris Agency (now known as WME-IMG), before becoming an agent representing top-tier talent, producers, directors, and writers in television and film.
With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, and as a result of her own successful climb up the career ladder from assistant to respected talent agent and industry veteran, Krista has a unique understanding of what juniors, seniors, and recent college graduates are experiencing in the search for their first job in entertainment—which carries a unique set of industry challenges.
Through her MyGradsGetJobs program, Krista helps “MyGrads” (as she affectionately calls those in her community) polish their resumes, create unique video resumes, gain knowledge on how to correctly identify, approach, meet, and follow up with industry professionals, and understand how the Hollywood structure works, in addition to demonstrating how to practice effective networking, interviewing, and follow up techniques.
In a short time, Krista has enjoyed success with her clients, helping them gain entry-level jobs with companies, shows, and studios such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, HBO, Warner Brothers, Paramount, and elite talent agencies like CAA, UTA, and WME-IMG.
In addition to running MyGradsGetJobs, Krista serves as an adjunct professor in the Cinema School at USC, where she teaches a course she created called “Breaking Into the Entertainment Business,” in addition to guest-lecturing at universities such as NYU, UCLA, and Loyola.
Krista’s diverse professional experience also includes tenure as the Vice President of Development for Tony Hawk’s production company, 900 Films, and as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for entertainment finance company, Content Partners. In 2012, ABC Family bought a sitcom based on Krista’s life experiences, where she served as Executive Producer.
Krista graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Broadcast Communications.
